St Lucia Golf Links.

St Lucia Golf Links is an 18-hole golf course 5,411 metres long, designed to suit golfers of all levels (par is 69). Nature, wildlife and sport come together on the course that was once a bird sanctuary.

Now approaching its 100th birthday, it has grown remarkably in the last century. Even at the very beginning, its owners (Indooroopilly Golf Club) reached out to the world’s most renowned golf course architect Alister MacKenzie to suggest improvements to its layout.

Under new management.

In July 2017, Jens Holland and Hans Pettersson won the lease agreement to manage the golf course and pro shop operations. This hallmarked the unity of Hillstone, hundred acre bar and St Lucia Golf Links under the same management. This has been nothing but good news that has seen significant upgrades to the course, including a new bridge on the 7th hole over Sandy Creek (provided by the Brisbane City Council) adding to the experience and aesthetics of the course.

Our service.

St Lucia Golf Links has hosted several Queensland Open and PGA tournaments. That professional standard has gone into the support we provide, with a new team of PGA Golf Professionals lead by Director of Golf Peter Clark. The team are on hand 7 days per week from dawn to dusk to support our golfing community. Our coaching and lesson programs are also designed for all ages and abilities.

A note from The Golf Pro Shop.

The golf shop features Queensland’s best golf simulator and can serve as a private function event. In these circumstances, the simulator turns into a big screen TV and plays whatever you need.

hundred acre bar.

Our onsite restaurant and wine bar is a relaxed space with an extraordinary atmosphere and panoramic views looking over more than 100 acres of golf course. Offering sittings for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it caters up to 1000 guests per week with more than 140 seats. We offer:

  • A unique sensi loci (sense of place).

As the venue rests among St Lucia’s green golf course, hundred acre bar embraces a unique sense of place. Along with its rustic décor, customers can experience the serenity of the area as the air from the surrounding nature rises with the wind, through the restaurant and up to the Rooftop Terrace.

Our menu.

Our seasonal menu is fresh and sensational. With influences from far and wide places, our menu is an interesting story of flavours and ingredients that you’ll surely enjoy. The extensive menu of beers and wines also adds another dimension, evolving with the seasons, like the menu and décor, to complement your experience. Hundred acre bar was also the very first restaurant to serve breakfast to the public in 1986, marking our place in history as first movers with this now iconic and much loved outing.

Our reputation and recent enhancements.

Hundred acre bar is well established in the hospitality industry and has a strong reputation grounded in our 30 years of operation. In fact 2018 marks 30 years in hospitality for owners Hans Pettersson and Jens Holland, who have helped Brisbane families celebrate many special occasions in hundred acre bar. On behalf of the growing spirit from these occasions that have been celebrated here, the venue has received yet another upgrade in 2017 to include a new Atrium entrance, bar and The Oak Dining Room. These have been specifically designed for the get-togethers hundred acre bar is so well known for.

Above all else, hundred acre bar is a celebration of our culture. With our indoor and outdoor dining spaces, and an exciting selection of fresh meals served by a friendly team, the only thing you’ll need to worry about is inviting the right company to share it with.

Saint Lucy.

Saint Lucy is the home of Italy in Brisbane. We follow the tradition of fine Italian antipasti and pizza cooked in our 400 degree beech oven. We also know how to have fun like Italians. Our signature events include our holy hour (blessed are those who pay no heed to peak-hour traffic and drinketh instead a Saint Lucy Aperol Spritz) and trivia on the last Wednesday of every month.

It’s the spirit of place (or genius loci, in Roman terms) that gives Saint Lucy its distinctive atmosphere. Enveloped in lush greenery overlooking the University of Queensland Tennis Centre, our venue and friendly staff give a unique life to the place that you can enjoy and contribute to.

A little twist of fate.

In the 1860s, William Wilson arrived from the island of St Lucia in the West Indies. He brought with him the charm of the Caribbean (one we still keep at our venue) and purchased cane plantations, naming them after his late home. In fact, in a remarkable twist of fate, he bought the plantations from William Dart, who built the original homestead at Hillstone St Lucia.

Our name Saint Lucy.

So that’s the story of the land, but why call our café Saint Lucy? Besides it being a little nod to our University neighbour, let us tell you about the fiery 4th century Sicilian Saint Lucia (or Lucy, as we affectionately call her). Her bravery, heroism and unfortunate demise (don’t Google it if you’re eating grapes) got her rightly sainted. She’s now associated with all things light and illuminative.

Lucy’s courage and tenacity is the ideal fit for our team and her enlightenment fits our venue perfectly, so that’s why we chose her. Besides, a little saintly patronage never hurt anyone (please don’t look that up). Her Italian heritage also inspired our menu.
