Tour de Lucia in Noosa!

Sunday 23 May saw more than 1000 cyclists ride it out over a scenic 160km course, from downtown Brisbane to picturesque Noosa. Among them was none other than 6 dedicated Tour de Lucia riders putting in a terrific team performance! A big thank you to Sean Simpson for sending these photos to us!

Tour de Lucia OS

Jetsetting Tour de Lucia members, Gale and Ross Rogers, spent a recent holiday cycling with friends through France and Italy... we were so pleased to see photos of this wonderful trip - especially the ones of them in their hundred acre bar jerseys!

"The photo with me sitting on my bike top bar was taken in southern France east of Avignon at the highest point on the road through the Gorges de la Nesque at a place called Belvedere du Castellaras, it has Mont Ventoux just visible in the background..."

"The photo with my back to the camera was taken 12 km up the northern side, on our way to the Passo delle Stelvio (2757 metres) in the north of Italy. Just past this point the road kicks up to about 8% to 10% with 40 or so switch backs for 10 km, pretty scary stuff, it was incredibly steep!"

Regions

Passo delle Stelvio, on the edge of the Dolomite region, is one of the most famous and awe inspiring cycling climbs anywhere. This photo was taken along the climb (roughly 6000 feet).

Mont Ventoux is a mountain in the Provence region of southern France. It is the largest mountain in the region and has been nicknamed the Giant of Provence. Mont Ventoux has become legendary as the scene of one of the most gruelling climbs in the Tour de France bicycle race, which has ascended the mountain fourteen times since 1951. Its fame has made it a magnet for cyclists around the world.
